Our Park’s History
The Lebanon-Area Veterans Memorial Park honors service members from Laclede County and beyond, connecting local history to significant national events. The USS Randolph anchor links the park to both World War II and the space race—the carrier assisted in recovering astronaut Gus Grissom’s Gemini capsule and transported astronaut John Glenn after his historic orbit of Earth.
These displays, generously donated by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy, provide a unique educational experience for residents and visitors alike. Whether you come to honor veterans, teach younger generations about history, or enjoy a moment of quiet reflection, this park offers a meaningful connection to the story of American service and sacrifice.
