The City of Lebanon is deeply saddened to announce the passing of longtime Ward 1 Councilman Gib Adkins, who died on December 7, 2025. His dedication to public service spanned more than 30 years.
Councilman Adkins had served on the Lebanon City Council since 2015 and achieved the Certified Municipal Official designation through the Missouri Municipal League. He was known for his calm, collaborative leadership and his unwavering passion for helping Lebanon move forward.
In addition to his work on the Council, Adkins represented the City of Lebanon on the America 250 Commission, helping guide local engagement in preparation for the nation’s 250th anniversary. He also co-founded several organizations that continue to serve the community, including the Lebanon Education Foundation and the L-Life Food Bank, and held leadership roles across numerous civic boards. His service consistently reflected a deep commitment to youth, education, parks improvements, tourism, and community beautification.
As a small business owner, Adkins understood the needs of Lebanon’s local economy and frequently advocated for policies that supported local businesses and community vitality. He was also a longtime member of the Lebanon Tourism and Marketing Advisory Committee, where he worked to promote Lebanon as a travel destination and highlight key attractions such as historic Route 66 and Bennett Spring State Park.
Mayor Jared Carr shared the following statement:
