Water / Wastewater

3
  • Your drinking water in Lebanon comes from a network of seven deep wells located around the city. These wells draw water from porous rock formations, ranging in depth from 1,000 to 1,800 feet.

To ensure a steady supply, we have five elevated storage tanks that can hold a total of 3 million gallons of water. This water is then distributed throughout the city via mains that range from 4 to 12 inches in diameter.

This system provides water for all your needs – from household and business use to industrial applications and fire protection.

    Water / Wastewater
  • The City of Lebanon is dedicated to providing its residents with top-quality drinking water that naturally meets State and Federal safety standards, remarkably without the need for a conventional water treatment facility.

In our commitment to maintaining the highest water quality, we add chlorine in carefully controlled, minimal amounts at each well site. This ensures the water remains clean and safe throughout the distribution system. Additionally, we enhance our community's health by adding fluoride to the water at each well site, promoting dental wellness.

Our dedication to water quality is rigorously upheld through consistent testing. The Missouri Department of Health Laboratory conducts 10 water quality tests each month on samples from Lebanon, ensuring our high standards are always met. We take great pride in our city's record of consistently meeting and exceeding safe drinking water standards, reflecting our deep commitment to the health and safety of our community. Every time you use water in Lebanon, you can be assured of its quality and purity.

Fire Department

6
  • The Lebanon Fire Department is dedicated to providing swift and efficient emergency medical response. Our team is trained and equipped to be on the frontline, often arriving on the scene before the ambulance. This rapid response is crucial in emergency situations, ensuring that medical aid reaches those in need as quickly as possible.

Our fire apparatus are not just equipped with firefighting gear but also staffed with certified Paramedics. These skilled professionals are capable of delivering advanced medical care, matching the level of treatment provided in an ambulance. This capability is especially vital in many medical emergencies where the need for additional hands and expertise is often critical.

In life-threatening situations, every second counts. Having more trained personnel on the scene means that we can administer complex treatments more rapidly. Tasks like setting up IVs, performing intubations, and administering medications can be carried out simultaneously, significantly improving the chances of a positive outcome. Moreover, in scenarios where patients need to be moved from challenging locations, such as upper floors or through narrow passages, the presence of additional responders can make a significant difference. It ensures not only the safety and comfort of the patient but also enhances the efficiency and safety of the emergency response.

At the Lebanon Fire Department, our commitment extends beyond fighting fires. We are here to provide comprehensive emergency care, bringing medical expertise right to the doorstep of those in need, and ensuring the wellbeing of our community is always our top priority.

    Fire Department
  • Joining the City of Lebanon Fire Department means being part of an elite team of professionals, equipped with a comprehensive set of skills and certifications. Our firefighters are not only brave and committed, but they are also highly trained experts in both firefighting and medical emergency response.

To be eligible for this esteemed role, candidates must meet a series of rigorous qualifications. A foundational requirement is holding a Missouri Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license. However, we place a high value on advanced medical training, with a Paramedic license being the preferred qualification. This advanced level ensures our team is prepared for a wide range of medical emergencies, including those involving pediatric and cardiac care, as evidenced by mandatory certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

But the expertise of our firefighters doesn't stop there. They are also trained in specialized areas such as Hazardous Materials (Haz-Mat) Awareness, Operations, and Technician training. This ensures our team can safely handle a variety of dangerous situations. Additionally, certifications in CPR and International Trauma Life Support are essential, equipping our team to provide life-saving care in critical situations.

Lastly, our firefighters are required to successfully complete and be certified in the Missouri Firefighter 1 and 2 courses. This comprehensive training ensures they are adept in the latest firefighting techniques and fully prepared to protect our community with skill and dedication.

At the City of Lebanon Fire Department, our team is our pride. Each member brings a unique set of skills and a commitment to excellence, ensuring the safety and well-being of the Lebanon community.

Our team is trained and equipped to handle a wide spectrum of incidents – from motor vehicle accidents to medical emergencies, from vehicle fires to large-scale structure fires, and from complex extrications to technical rescues and hazardous material releases. Each of these scenarios demands a unique approach, specialized equipment, and swift action.

Emergencies don’t follow a schedule; they can arise at any moment, often with little to no warning. In many cases, our team finds themselves moving directly from one critical situation to another. This back-to-back, continuous operation is a testament to their commitment and resilience. Electric Department
  • Momentary power interruptions, which often appear as brief flickering or blinking of lights, typically last less than a second to a few seconds. While short, these interruptions can impact electronic devices and appliances in homes and businesses.

    Causes of Momentary Power Interruptions:

These flickers can happen anytime, even on clear, sunny days, and are caused by various factors, including:

    • Lightning strikes
    • Vegetation interference
    • Animals
    • Damaged electrical equipment

    How Does the System Respond?

Our power lines are equipped with protective devices like breakers and reclosers. These devices can detect disruptions and momentarily shut off power to the affected line section. This quick action often allows the cause of the interference, like a tree branch touching the line, to clear itself. If the branch falls away or moves clear of the line, the power is swiftly restored, preventing prolonged outages. This process is crucial in avoiding damage and extended power outages.

    Steps You Can Take:

To minimize the impact of these interruptions, consider:

    • Using surge protectors to safeguard your appliances and equipment.
    • Installing an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for sensitive or critical equipment like computer systems. A UPS provides emergency power during an outage.
    • Keeping a record of the exact dates and times of these occurrences, which can help us in identifying and addressing the issues more effectively.
