Here is a brief recap of highlights from the Nov. 22 regular Lebanon City Council Meeting:
✅ Dr. Jeffrey Mutchler was appointed to the vacant, unexpired Ward 3 City Council term last held by Councilman Josh Ray. Council approved Mayor Jared Carr’s recommendation of the appointment and Mutchler will be seated as soon as he is able to be sworn in.
✅ Council adopted goals for 2022 that provides a 5-year-plan and vision for the city.
How does this impact me?
City residents and businesses have had the opportunity to participate in citizen/business satisfaction surveys over the last few years. The results of these surveys have been used to craft and adopt goals for the future of Lebanon and provide council with a roadmap for continuing to move Lebanon forward. ✅ Council approved several bills that will facilitate in furnishing the new Lebanon Public Safety Center with furniture for living quarters and office spaces and update the existing fire facilities with new furniture.
How does this impact our community?
Passage of these bills will help ensure that the new public safety center is ready for use upon completion. Funding for furnishing the station and updating the current station was approved by voters in 2018 when residents implemented the Public Safety Sales Tax.
✅ Council approved Bill no 6194 authorizing the purchase of a radio communications system for public works.
How does this impact our community?
Lebanon was hit by an extreme weather event on May 4, 2020, causing extensive damage to our electric system. Immediately following the storm, communications in Lebanon were extremely limited and our public works crews had difficulty communicating with each other as the city team was rallying together to restore basic services. City officials saw the need to ensure our public works crews could communicate in emergency situations and have the ability to communicate with police and fire officials. The radio system approved is similar to the one used by Laclede Electric Cooperative.
