City Council Recap - Sept. 14 meeting

Here are some highlights from the Sept. 14 Lebanon City Council meeting:
• Council approved two parade permits, one for the Freedom of the Road Riders Toy Run schedule for Nov. 1 and another for the Lebanon Christmas Parade scheduled Nov. 21.

• Council approved Resolution No. 459 endorsing revitalization efforts for the Lebanon Downtown Special Business District and its participation in the Main Street Grant.

What does this mean for you?
This means the Lebanon City Council fully supports the efforts of the Downtown Business District to receive and pursue grants to help businesses and organizations revitalize downtown Lebanon, create a more attractive environment, and promote new business and housing in the downtown district. Downtown Lebanon is the heart of our community and thriving downtown helps make for a thriving Lebanon.

• Council approved Bill 5037 authorizing Cahills Construction Inc. to professionally clean the exhibition hall at the Cowan Civic Center.

What does this mean for you?
When renovations to the Cowan Civic Center are complete, the exhibition hall will be in tip top shape. The exhibition hall is one of the most used portions of the CCC. Several events are held there annually such as rodeos and truck and tractor pulls that require dirt to be hauled in. After years of these types of events there is a need for a deep cleaning. This will make our facility even more attractive and hopefully bring in even more outside events to our community.

• Council approved Bill 5040 authorizing an agreement between the city and Laclede Industries for Recycling and Grant Assistance Services.

What does this mean for you?
The City of Lebanon will continue working with Laclede Industries to provide our residents with recycling options.

• Council approved bills 5041, 5042 and 5043 authorizing the electric department to purchase new streetlight poles, transformers, and a backup for our SCADA system.

What does this mean for you?
The city will continue to improve and maintain our street lighting, continue to make improvements to the electric grid and provide a backup to the computer system that monitors electric system.

• Council approved Bill 5044 authorizing the overlay of the front entrance of Atchley Park.

What does this mean for you?
Atchley Park will get a new parking lot and will continue to be a great facility for our customers.

• Council approved Bill 5045 authorizing Olsson Inc. to complete a survey for engineering related to the construction of a cul de sac on Maple Lane and new parking area for Nelson Lake.

What does this mean for you?
This means the city will begin the process of improving parking around Nelson Lake four our residents.
