Highlights from the Aug. 10 Lebanon City Council Meeting

Here are some highlights of the Aug. 10 Lebanon City Council meeting:

-- Council approved Bill 5002 authorizing the electric department to purchase an AT40G Backyard Track Machine.

What does this mean for you?
This machine will make it easier for the electric department to make more repairs without having to temporarily shut off power. The machine will help provide easier access to areas with right away restrictions.

-- Council approved Bill 5023 authorizing the purchase of material needed for the Winkle Avenue Water Project.

What does this mean for you?
Improved water flow around Wrinkle Avenue. Four-inch and 2-inch lines will be replaced with 12-inch water line which will help promote subdivision development.

-- Council approved Bill 5024 authorizing the purchase of materials and construction of a salt storage building at the Public Works facility.

What does this mean for you?
This means our street department will have easier access and a better supply of salt for winter weather events. The current salt storage facility is located near Van Buren and Commercial streets and is not big enough to store all the salt the city needs for a typical Missouri winter. The new salt storage building will be twice the size and able to hold 450 tons of salt. This will allow Public Works to purchase and store the salt needed and purchase it in bulk. This building will also provide our street crews with easier access to the materials needed to keep our roadways treated.

-- Council approved Bill 5025 authorizing the purchase of a new forklift for the city warehouse.

What does this mean for you?
The current forklift at the warehouse was bought in 1998 and it has met its end of life. This new forklift will help city employees have the tools they need to better serve our residents. The 1998 forklift will be put into surplus and auctioned off.
