Here is a recap with some of the highlights from last night’s Lebanon City Council meeting:
-- Presentations - Stacy Burks, from the American Red Cross, recognized the Lebanon Police Department for taking the lead in the April Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. The PD and Lebanon Fire Department helped collect more than 85 units of blood.
-- Road Overlays - The City Council approved the overlays of Mountrose Street, Raef Road, between Lynn Street and Highway YY, and Hoover Avenue, from Kennedy Street to Dilworth Road.
-- City Insurance - To keep up with best practices, the city put all insurance products out to bid. Council renewed an agreement to keep Meritain Health, Inc. as the provider for city employee insurance.
-- Main Street Manager - Council approved an agreement with the Downtown Business Advisory Board to help the board fund a Main Street Manager for Downtown Lebanon. Ashton Light was hired to fill the position. The manager will be responsible for working with the board to revitalize downtown Lebanon. This is just one of may steps taking place to move downtown Lebanon forward including improvements for the Farmer’s Market, renovations and construction of studio apartments at the Allen Building. The city also recently completed the renovation of the water tower downtown, adding the downtown logo and lighting.
The Lebanon City Council’s next regular meeting will be 6 p.m. July 13.
