Fire department begins annual hydrant testing
The Lebanon Fire Department will be performing maintenance on fire hydrants over the next few months.
Annually, the fire department performs basic maintenance and flushing of more than 1,300 hydrants in the city limits.
“Please use caution when you see our firefighters out flushing hydrants,” said Chief Sam Schneider. “Drive slow around fire equipment and watch for people walking in the area,” he added.
In conjunction with this maintenance, the City of Lebanon Water/Wastewater Division makes repairs as needed also, repairing and replacing leaking or damaged hydrants. The process of flushing hydrants can cause slightly discolored water in in homes due to the large amounts of water flowing through the water mains stirring up sediment. To correct this, simply run the faucets in your bathtub or sink for a few moments.
If this does not correct the issue, please contact Lebanon Public Works at (417) 588.6090.
