GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

CANDIDATE FILING


Notice is hereby given that the City of Lebanon, Missouri, General Municipal Election shall be held on April 7, 2020 to elect the following stated officials:

         One Mayor-4 Year Term

          One Councilman Ward 1  - 2 Year Term

          One Councilman Ward 2 - 2 Year Term

          One Councilman Ward 3 - 2 Year Term

          One Councilman Ward 4  -  2 Year Term

          One Municipal Judge - 2 Year Term

          One City Attorney - 2 Year Term

Those interested in filing for candidacy shall make application at the Office of the City Clerk.  Filing dates are set to open December 17, 2019 @ 8:00 AM and close January 21, 2020 @ 5:00 PM. Filing fees are $3.00 per candidate.  At the time of filing, a copy of a notarized affidavit declaring no delinquency of local and state taxes shall be provided to the City Clerk. The affidavit form can be found online at http://dor.mo.gov/forms/5120.pdf or may be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office prior to December 17th.   It is the responsibility of the filer to submit the original affidavit to the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The Office of the City Clerk is located at City Hall, 401 South Jefferson.  During the holidays, the Office of the City Clerk will be closed December 24th, December 25th and January 1st.

Mayor Qualifications: Must be at least 30 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the City at the time of and two years preceding said election as required by State Law RSMo 77.230.

Councilman Qualifications:  Must be at least 21 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the City for one year and a resident of respective Ward for six months preceding said election as required by State Law RSMo 77.060.   

Municipal Judge Qualifications:  Must be at least 21 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Missouri.  No person shall serve as Judge after he/she has reached his/her 70th birthday.  Must possess all the qualifications required by City Code of Ordinances Article II. 

City Attorney:  Must possess all the qualifications required by City Code of Ordinances Article IV Division 2 Section 2-77 and State Law RSMo 479.120 and RSMo 77.370(2).
