Lebanon to participate in Local Government Week April 14-20
Local government has a direct impact on each of us in the City of Lebanon, every day.
Working together, your cities, counties and schools are the backbone of the community.
Missouri celebrates Local Government Week April 14-20, 2019 and Lebanon Mayor Jared Carr has issued a proclamation proclaiming the week in the City of Lebanon as well.
In the City of Lebanon and Laclede County, we have many examples of local government serving the community.
Earlier this year, the City partnered with the Laclede County government and other local organizations to roll out the Text Alert Community Messaging System.
By texting LEBANONMO and/or LACLEDEMO to 888-777 community members can receive urgent alerts from local government. And that is just one example of how our local governments partner together.
Now is the time to learn more about how your local government serves you. Next week, as the City of Lebanon celebrates, watch the City's social media outlets for tidbits about local government.
Local government is:
• Your local roads cleared of snow in winter, and the potholes fixed in the spring
• Clean water coming out of your tap each morning
• Your favorite local park pavilion
• The first responders to a fire, traffic accident or emergency
• Law enforcement patrolling your street or county road
A few of the organizations sponsoring Local Government Week include: Missouri Municipal League, www.mocities.com; Missouri Association of Counties, www.mocounties.com; Missouri School Boards’ Association, www.msbanet.org and the Missouri Association of Councils of Government, www.macogonline.org.
