Mayor's Weekly Update
September 10, 2010
Finally some rain and a break in the heat.  Be careful of flooded roads.  Please help the City by reporting flooded roads to the Lebanon Police Department.  The non-emergency number is 532-3131.

The Laclede County Literacy Council held its Celebrity Waiter Dinner last night.  It was well attended and I hope that they had good donations this year.  The LCLC has helped over 100 over citizens learn to read and a number to become US citizens over the past year.  A great organization of volunteers.

This evening there will be a free charity event sponsored by the Stop the Abuse Next Door (STAND) at the Cowan Civic Center at 6PM.  This is a national-level charity umbrella organization with local roots.  Their goal is to help coordinate the efforts of a number of organizations towards the goal of stopping child abuse across the nation.  A good list of entertainers, free food, and useful information will be available.

Saturday at the Laclede Government Center on Adams St. there will be the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.  Looks like a very good program and the program will be recognizing our own World War II veterans.

The Rt. 66 Historical Society is sponsoring an event on Friday the 17th at the Cowan Civic Center.  An outdoor driven-in movie featuring the Disney-Pixar film “Cars”.  Another great event helping the Rt. 66 Historical Society and of course highlighting Lebanon’s part in the “Mother Road”.

The next City Council meeting is September 13th at 7PM Council Chambers, City Hall.  The agenda is shaping up to be rather lengthy but please do join us.  The agenda will have a number of items of interest to include the revised City purchasing policy.

If you wish to make a comment, ask a question, express a concern, or make an appointment to speak with me; please feel free to e-mail me at or call City Hall 417-532-2156 for an appointment.

Respectfully,

CP Craig
Mayor
