Trip Around the Ozarks for September 21, 2016

Hello Friends;

Tomorrow night, September 22, the Lebanon Concert Association presents the Barbary Coast Dixieland Show Band. They are a high energy 6 piece Dixie Show Band that performs a complete stage show. Not just another band they will bring you Dixieland to Broadway to Hollywood with lots of vocals and lots of laughs. Info: barbary-coast.com

Saturday, September 24th is the OTC Lebanon Fall Trail Run. Race Day Packet Pickup & Registration go from 7:15am to 8:30am, the race starts at 9am. The 5 mile trail is on rolling terrain grass & sod. Features include a small creek, mostly open field and wooded area. There will be aid stations, and complimentary pre-race refreshments & post-race lunch on site. Spectators please bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to enjoy the beautiful scenery and cheer on your favorite runners. Info: Facebook Event

On the night of Saturday, September 24th COPE will host a Trivia Night with dinner at 6pm and trivia is from 7pm-10pm at the Cowan Civic Center. All proceeds go COPE; a not-for-profit agency, that among other things, provides emergency shelter to victims of family violence. Info: Facebook Event

On September 28-29 OTC Lebanon Campus is hosting a Chili/Soup cook-off benefiting Community Cares. The event will be from 10AM-5PM both days and the cost is $1 per bowl. Invite your friends, family, and coworkers to enjoy a delicious bowl of chili for this great cause. Info: Melinda 417-532-8868

On October 1st do something active and stop by to register for the Hunger Games 450 Challenge brought to you by the City of Lebanon and L-Life Food Bank for the third year in a row. You can participate in the 1K obstacle run with 12 hunger games themed obstacles. Contact the Parks department for more information. Info: 417-991-2222.

Trip Around the Ozarks for September 14, 2016

Tomorrow, September 15th will begin the 25th Annual Starvy Creek Bluegrass Fall Festival. This 3 day festival of music will be in Conway on Bluegrass Road and will have acts like Larry Sparks & The Lonesome Ramblers, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Goldwing Express and many more. Info: starvycreek.com 

On September 17th join the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce and Local Makes Sense at the Civic Center for their 5th Annual Business Expo and Job Fair. This year there will be a Health and Home section. From 9-2 browse through vendor booths from all over the Lebanon area. Admission is free for this event. Contact the Chamber for more information. Also on September 17th from 5PM-10PM head out to Boat Town Brewery for a fall evening of running and hay rides. Take off with your friends for a run or walk through the rolling hills of rural Phillipsburg. Return for a hay ride on historic original Route 66. Afterwards stay and enjoy the beer garden. All proceeds from the race benefit Nathan Cole’s medical expenses. boattownbrewing.com

Trip Around the Ozarks for August 17, 2016

The Elks Lodge will be having a Truck and Tractor Pull Saturday 8/20 in the Fairgrounds behind the Civic Center. Gates open at 4PM and the pull starts at 7pm. There will be lots of food vendors and a bouncy house for the kids. This is an event for the whole family. $10 per person and kids 10 and under are free. On Saturday, August 20th starting at 8AM Laclede Electric will be hosting their 5th Annual Poker Run. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life. Lunch will be provided at the end of the route. Prizes given for Best, 2nd Best, 3rd Best, and Worst Hand. Info: 417-718-0110

Also on Saturday, August 20 is the 2nd Annual Lebanon Bridal Show presented by Mrs. Oliver's Weddings and sponsored by the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce. This is open to the public from 11am-4pm with purchase of tickets. Tickets are General Admission: $5.00 Military ID: $3.00. Brides that per-register are entered in an exclusive drawing with prizes estimated at $1,500 or more. Pre-registration information can be found in the event listing on the City's Calendar. On August 23rd at the Cowan Civic Center Congresswoman Vicki Hartzler will be holding a job fair. It is anticipated that the experience and education levels of attendees will be diverse. They hope to provide a one-stop employment shopping experience for employers and potential employees alike. More information to come on this event as we receive it.

On Friday August 26th the Laclede Electric Cooperative will be holding their annual meeting at the Cowan Civic Center in the Exhibition Hall.
